Leo Lamelas is a Brazilian driver who started his career in karting at the tender age of 7, and immediately set his lifetime goal of becoming a professional race car driver.
Many pole positions and victories throughout his teenage years eventually led him to the big step into prototype race cars in North America.
Leo started racing in the IMSA prototype Challenge in 2018 with Charles Wicht Racing scoring his first victory in only his second ever start at Sebring. More podiums and a pole position at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park helped him earned a seat with ANSA Motorsports for the 2019 season.
2019 was another strong year for Lamelas in Prototype Challenge, finishing 3rd in the championship with teammate Neil Alberico scoring 149 points. The season started off with an impressive victory at the season opener at Daytona International Speedway, making Lamelas the first Brazilian driver to win an international race in 2019. Lamelas and the ANSA motorsports team went on to place second at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
For the 2020 season, Lamelas will race in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series with US Racetronics.
Lamelas spends his free time training and preparing for races and living for races, including a strict fitness routine, continuous simulator work, and weekend racing in KZ Karts. When not in a car, Lamelas switches over to two wheels and takes advantage of his free time to ride Motocross.
